The poem ‘at the border’ is about an innocent girl at the border of her country with her family. They were forced to leave their country because there was a civil war going on in their country. “I can inhale home” Now they are going back to their hometown. “our mothers were crying” I think they were crying because they were happy and excited to be going back home because they haven’t been there in a very long time. “a man bent down and kissed his muddy homeland” this shown how much he missed his homeland and how much he wanted to get back home.
